FINDING HEALING AND WELLNESS THROUGH CREATIVE EXPRESSION

#rescuedbyart

This segment is the closest to my heart. In both misery and happiness, creating art has been my outlet. Whether I am feeling unwell or perfectly healthy, art is my go-to escape. A quote by Gabrielle Roth has resonated with me for years:

"In many shamanic societies, if you came to a medicine person complaining of being disheartened, dispirited, or depressed, they would ask one of four questions: "When did you stop dancing? When did you stop singing? When did you stop being enchanted by stories? When did you stop being comforted by the sweet territory of silence?”

The simple act of observing or creating art has always been my safe space. Art in any form—dancing, singing, cooking, painting, writing and more—can be the greatest healer. The more I made art, the better I understood myself. In fact, during my darkest moments, art rescued meArt is not just a healer; it’s a medium that allows you to escape into a world of imagination, innovation and creativity. It helps you feel whole and transforms your outlook.

How has art impacted your life? I’d love to hear how it has shaped your experiences and helped you find joy!

Mission

We have all been rescued by art at some point. It could be a brilliant TV show we return to for comfort again and again, or a beautiful scenery that inspires us to paint, or the Hindustani ragas of monsoons that make one dance like a peacock in the rain. Art is everywhere and all around us; it just takes a moment to notice it. Art is what Van Gogh saw from the tiny window of the psychiatric hospital of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, and art is the legacy he left behind with his paintings. Our mission is to unite through art and find that tiny window that allows us to see the world from a whole new perspective.
